When you MUST take a breath in, breathe in naturally through your nose and out through your mouth 3 times. Your body will remember exactly what to do. You might even want to close your eyes to make it more relaxing.

This is perfect for those of us who have forgotten how to breathe. We may take shallow breaths from the top of our lungs but trying to take a deep breath doesn't work. The blowing out will help to reset everything so the 3 natural breaths after will actually feel refreshing.

You might want to pay particular attention to the stillness that comes between the in/out. But if you don't want to, the simple act of breathing might just be enough.

Studies (that were discussed in a class I had over 10 years ago and have no reference for) have shown that taking three breaths every 15 minutes throughout the day will show a change in brain functioning on fMRI. The brain will go from stressed to relaxed in a matter of days.

Remind yourself to do this by setting a timer or do it every time you sit down (at your desk, on the toilet, in your car, etc.).

Try it once and tell me what you think. Then try it for a week and check back in again!

Want a little support on your healing journey? Get a Self-Healing Consultation!
